THE ZENITH OF
FIREBIRD PERFORMANCE
THE ALL AMERICAN STREET FIGHTER
Introduced in 1991, the SLP Firehawk was a wolf in sheep's clothing. Underneath the base Formula Exterior was a plethora of upgrades borrowed from cars like the Corvette ZR-1 and Ferrari F-40.
EXCLUSIVITY
SLP Engineering was contractually limited to a production build of only 250 Formula Firehawks. This was to assure the exclusivity and ultimate collectability of each and every Firehawk. This was the zenith of Firebird Performance.
With only 25 cars ultimately being produced between the 1991 & 1992 year models, the SLP Firehawk was one of the most rare examples of peak GM performance ever to come out of its era.
ENGINE
The engine in the Firehawk featured a 4-bolt main cylinder block, forged steel crankshaft, 1053 alloy forged steel "Pink" connecting rods, lightweight high silicon cast aluminum pistons, steel billet hydraulic roller camshaft, high output aluminum cylinder heads with stainless steel valves, high flow/down draught TPI intake manifold and stainless steel tubular exhaust manifolds with a dual catalytic exhaust system.
DRIVETRAIN
Firehawk's powerful engine was backed up by a formidable drivetrain package that included a 6-speed Corvette ZF manual transmission, Dana 3" low-mass aluminum driveshaft, Dana 44 limited slip rear axle with 3.54:1 final drive ratio and 8.5in ring gear, 1LE brake system, 17x9.5" cast aluminum wheels and high durometer suspension bushings. This was one of the most durable drivetrain packages offered on any U.S. built production car in its time.
COMPETITION
Choosing the Competition Package added an Aluminum Hood, replaced the standard 1LE brakes with 13 x 1.25" cross drilled Brembo F-40 front discs and completed the interior with Recaro seats, 5-point Simpson seat belt harnesses, rear seat delete and a 6-point roll bar.

In total, there were only 10 cars to be equipped with this package from SLP.
